The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) provides access to dental services to children aged 2-17 yrs of age and is available to families that receive Family Tax Benefit Part A or a relevant Australian Government Payment.
Dental services are capped at $1000 over two consecutive calendar years. The two year calendar period starts when the child or teenager first receives an eligible service.
Services available to children under the CDBS include:
- Check ups, cleans, fluoride treatments (every 6 months)
- Fissure sealants
- Root canal treatments
The CDBS doesn’t cover orthodontic, cosmetic dental work or dental services provided in hospital.
A notification of eligibility will be sent to the child’s parent/guardian either electronically, or by post. If you are unsure if your child is eligible simply call 132 011 and have your Medicare details on hand.
At Green Apple Dentistry we can process your Medicare claim onsite. If you would like to take advantage of the CDBS then please inform us of your child’s eligibility when you make an appointment.
